Phanomrung Historical Park

Phanom Rung Historical Park is a great majestic Khmer place over a long time ago. It's far from the south of Burirum about 64 kilometres. It's built as Hindu religious place but transformed into a Buddhist one in the later. When visitors arrive at here, they will see the grand stairway from the foot of the hill up to the top as the first sight.

Most of the buildings of the sanctuary were made of laterite and sandstone with elaborate designs. The main pagoda is a large one with a square base facing east. The designs on the pagoda, columns, doorway, and lintels are exquisite about a story of gods in Hinduism.
